Atletico Santa Rosa Rounds Out the New ECNL Boys Northern Cal Conference
RICHMOND, VA (June 5, 2020) – The ECNL Boys is excited to announce that Atletico Santa Rosa will become the 10th and final club to join its new Northern Cal Conference for the 2020-2021 season.
“The addition of Atletico Santa Rosa strengthens the new Northern Cal Conference and further shows the value of our relationship with NorCal Premier Soccer,” said ECNL Boys Commissioner, Jason Kutney. “We are preparing for a 2020-2021 season that will see the largest and most diverse membership in our league’s history.”
Atletico Santa Rosa has long been regarded as a top producer of talent in Northern California while also ensuring that all children who are interested in joining the club have a place to play under it’s “No Child Left Behind” club philosophy.
Founded in April 2003 with the philosophy of ‘No child left behind’, the club does not hold tryouts. Every child is welcome to the club indifferent to their skill level. Atletico has grown into a club offering Under-5 through Under-19 opportunities for more than 450 boys and girls in the Santa Rosa, California area. It has a rich history of player development and advancement to the collegiate, professional, and national team levels, most recently highlighted by the successes of players like Jonathan Gonzalez (Club Rayados de Monterrey, Mexican National Team) and his brother, Adrian Gonzalez (Club Pachuca, LA Galaxy), as well as James Molberg (Real Monarchs) and Keven Juarez Melendez (Coyotes de Tlaxcala). Supporting their mission to bring back professionals off the field into the Santa Rosa community as well, their placement of players into the NCAA level has continued to rise, year over year as a major focus for the club.
The club has also seen great team success over the years, most recently evidenced by the 00/01 ASR Bayern boys side winning the 2019 US Club Soccer National Cup XVIII in the SuperGroup Division.
“Atletico Santa Rosa feels extremely privileged to be part of the ECNL Boys league,” said Messias dos Santos, Atletico Santa Rosa Director of Coaching & Player Development. “We truly believe that this platform will support our player development model and will provide our players with the necessary opportunities to achieve their goals.”
